SELF-LED PROJECTS
PROJECTS I’VE SUPPORTED
Economics: Poverty & Inequality Mapping
-
Build an interactive choropleth map of poverty and inequality markers in Silicon Valley to help local nonprofits and NGOs with resource distribution
-
My main responsibility was to develop an R script to pull data from the U.S. Census Bureau to populate an interactive map of poverty and inequality markers, such as income. I also researched new R packages online to help support the project.
Clinical Neuropsychology: Cognition & Diabetes
-
Federally funded lab that examines the impact of obesity and weight-related medical conditions on cognitive ability
-
My main duty in this research role was to administer cognitive testing on participants and score batteries. The scoring process was highly manual, so I also spearheaded the creation of a novel automated scoring program on Excel that was used to validate scaled scores and T scores on the batteries.
Other responsibilities including recruiting and screening new participants for the study and entering data into REDCap (participant data organization system).
Public Health & Psychology: Race & Social Media
-
Federally funded NIH study to investigate the role of perceived same-race social media advertisements on junk food consumption by adolescents
-
As a data analyst for this study, my role is to conduct regression analyses to evaluate the hypotheses for this study. We are currently evaluating data from the first aim of this R01 research project.
